Time Of Day:morning
For the first time since about December, the crank is not the hottest bait in the lake! As we figured, the fish have been moving up, but the rapidly falling lake level and frequently changing air temps have upended our normal spring patterns. With the shad spawn going, the fish are up shallow feeding and rubbing on the frequently emerging trees. Normally this time of year would spell a morning topwater bite and alabama rigs, but the fish aren’t busting and there’s just too much timber up for big rigs. But, picking apart tree fields with big spinnerbaits and lizards has done the trick with boats following this pattern reporting up to 120 bass a day with a pair of 11lb brutes to boot!

crankbait crankbait crankbait
Hottest Colors:shad variations
Time Of Day:all day
The inevitable slowdown after the first big wave of spawn is here. Some boats are still catching upwards of 60 per day, but the afternoon bite has virtually stopped with the morning putting out the best fish. the crankbait is still king right now with most catching in the 10-20 range as the bass have moved back off the banks and the next wave is staging to move up. big squarebills and 8xd cranks are playing the best with plenty of fish up to 9lbs, but only 2 over 10 this week. If the weather can warm a bit, we will be looking for the bite to pick up.

Hottest Colors:shad, white,chart, watermelon
Time Of Day:all day
The first wave is dropping with the full moon and the fish a getting set to move off and the next wave to move up. The dropping water and changing air temps have not made it easy this spawn season, but our guides are still on the bigs. Hot baits this week have been big senkos up tight and big cranks banging through staging areas. some boats are still catching 100 a day with Baccarac vets doing the best and some newer fishermen still finding their grove. Best this week are a few in the 10lb range.

Sorry for the delay folks! We are going through some website maintenance, so the reports might be sporadic until we can implement all of the the new updates, so please, if you need information on an upcoming trip, please call 806-316-8382 or go to our facebook page for regular reports and updates!
The Crankbait bite has all the rage since our last reports, with rattletrap, spinnerbait, swimbait, and plastics all having some shining moments as well. But the crankbait has reigned supreme with boats ranging anywhere from 50-250+ bass per day. The bass are truly all over the lake, with not one pattern playing more than another right now. The fish are staging, spawning, and some are post spawn, with fish being caught all over the water column.
If you have a trip scheduled, please have plenty of big crankbaits and backup size 1 and 1/0 hooks as we have sold about a full season supply of cranks in about 3 weeks and are running low here at the shop.
DONT LEAVE HOME WITHOUT THE CRANKBAITS!

The recent rains have slowed things up a bit leading into the full moon and the first big wave of spawn. We are still catching lots of fish, but the big girls aren’t as active. Chatterbait and jigs have been the best baits for bites, as we have seen lots of quality 4-9lb fish taken, but the bigger fish are still on the crankbait and big worms or senkos.
We still think staging areas are the bet, as the same ones have seemed to hold the larger fish even as the spawn has gotten underway. The staging areas seem to be recycling, and the same big fish baits are fooling the better fish
