About Us

Lake Baccarac was stocked in 1978 with Florida strain largemouth bass. The lake is 25 miles long and five miles wide and is 30,000 acres at full pool. The lake record and the Central American record were set in 1993 by Bruce Knutson with a 19.10 lb largemouth bass.

Until 2004 with the opening of Lake Baccarac Lodge, anglers were inconvenienced by having to spend their evenings and nights in facilities away from the water. Now, our anglers are brought directly to the water’s edge overlooking Lake Baccarac and the beautiful surrounding mountain scenery.

Our customized 18-foot Crestliner boats make fishing a breeze and are manned by Lake Baccarac’s most famous guides. Many of our guides have over twenty years of experience giving them an intimate knowledge of the lake. They await you each morning to help you realize every angler’s dream – that mammoth bass of a lifetime.

Lake Baccarac Lodge was built for one reason – to give anglers another opportunity while bass fishing in Mexico, to stay in elegant accommodations while enjoying the world’s best bass fishing. The 2021 season saw Lake Baccarac Lodge go through a complete update and renovation to make your stay that much better. If the fishing hasn’t hooked you, our chef prepared cuisine, updated rooms and lavish bathrooms, and comfortable transportation will!

Lake Baccarac is a true trophy paradise.

Terry Hollan

Terry Hollan raised the bar by building top-notch facilities and then facilitating private air service to them. He began with Lake Huites Lodge and then continued on with Lake Baccarac Lodge and has become a prominent name in Mexico bass fishing circles.  Terry is known for providing first-class, personalized service to all of his clientele. His lodges are the “gold standard” by which all lodges are to be judged.

Manuel Salazar

We are excited to have Manuel Salazar as our Lodge Manager! Properly nicknamed “The Hawk” by the locals in the area, Manuel, without a doubt has caught more big fish and maybe caught more fish, period, than any man we know of. Ask any guide in the entire state of Sinaloa, and maybe the country if Mexico, and the know the fabled stories of Manuel Salazar. His personality and expertise are a great addition to our management team. He is the greatest fisherman you’ve ever seen; we will put our money on it!

Chad Meenan

Chad came to us first as a client, and like many, never wanted to leave! After a few years hosting large groups, he was able to make his dream a reality, coming aboard full time in 2019. Chad’s primary duties include the promotion of Lake Baccarac Lodge and booking future clients for their next trip of a lifetime. You can find him by phone or the place he loves most, Lake Baccarac.

Poncho and Sixto

This nephew and uncle duo are both Lake Baccarac Legends in their own right and are our Lead Guides. They help with the coordination of guide assignments as well as the facilitation of groups here at Lake Baccarac Lodge. Nobody on Lake Baccarac has put more 10Lb or better fish in the boat than Sixto. Has he told you about the time he won a truck fishing with clients at Baccarac? Just ask and he will tell you! Poncho has been hot on his heels and undoubtedly been pressing for the title of Heavyweight Champ here at the Lodge. We’d put him up against anyone!

Cheryl Hollan

Cheryl is the co-owner of and the office manager for Reel Mexican Adventures, taking care of the bookings, lodge scheduling, accounting and overall coordinating, working closely with her staff in Mexico and Terry. She’s been there since the beginning, back when Lake Huites Lodge was conceived and built, through today, working at her in-home office in Texas.

Sara Hollan

Sara Hollan is a co-owner here at Lake Baccarac Lodge. With an extensive background in hotel management, she has been instrumental in the décor and processes that each client experiences at our lakeside lodge. From the luxurious bathrooms, to our gourmet meals, Sara’s vision has always been to make each client’s stay as comfortable as it is memorable.

Our veteran staff

Our veteran staff are there to ensure your stay is topnotch – from the air-conditioned, spacious rooms, to excellent meals prepared by the cooking staff, to the housekeeping staff who will pamper you – even washing your clothing daily. From the moment you arrive in Mexico until the moment you leave, the staff is there to meet your every need and to make sure your stay is a memorable one.
