Two of us had an excellent trip to Lake Baccarac Lodge. The food and service is outstanding! Fishing was excellent. We averaged 40-80 fish per day. Numerous fish in the 3-6 pound range. Our big fish each day was: 9-1, 7-2, 6-0, 9-2. Best bait was spinnerbait, slow-rolled off the banks and around cover. A medium sized Bill Dance Crankbait produced lots of fish. A great trip.

Bill Dance Fat Free Shad and Norman Deep Diving crankbaits
Hottest Colors:citrus shad
Time Of Day:all day
The topwater bite remains very good at Lake Baccarac and the bigger fish seem to be suspended in 18 – 24 feet of water. We have also caught some quality big fish in 40 feet of water but the main concentration is at the 20-foot level and are being caught with Bill Dance citrus shad crankbaits. Charles Townson, while fishing with our guide Eddie, reported good numbers of fish and his largest today was a 9.1 caught on Bill Dance crankbait. Ken Brown from Chicago, while fishing with our guide George, reported to Rene this is one of the best days on the water he has ever had, catching many quality fish. His two biggest fish were a 9.0, caught on a ten-inch watermelon lizard and a 9.0 caught on an 11 inch watermelon Culprit worm. He also reported good numbers of fish at 15 feet using Norman citrus shad colored diving bait. Sixto Figeroa found a good pattern with 6 inch swimbaits and caught fish up to 9 lbs. in 25 feet of water.
GREAT TRIP!

Lizards water melon and white spinner bates caught well all day. My wife Brenda caught a 12.4 lbs on a white swim bate. Biggest Bass ever for her. Great Food, Better People, we will be back thanks

Time Of Day:this week
I just returned from five days down at the lodge. Last weekend, Kenny Crutcher of El Paso returned for the second weekend in a row and brought his son, and on his son’s first cast, they caught a 12.12. Also had good numbers of fish caught throughout the day on topwater and it seems that quiet moving baits such as Zara Spooks and Excalibur Spitting Image are working better than popping and noisy baits. Danny Westfall from Arizona was at the lodge and reported upon my arrival that he had caught three fish over 10 lbs. and 80 fish on topwater before lunch and the first fish after lunch was a fish that weighed in at more than 12 lbs. Tim Ruddick, while fishing with our guide, Enrique, caught the big fish for his group, an 11.2. Gilbert Mann of Amarillo, Texas, in three days of fishing, had 276 fish caught, mostly on topwater and fish up to 6 lbs. Carl Douglas caught two fish over 10 lbs the first morning he had ever bass fished. So as you can tell from this report, the fishing remains good to excellent. It does seem like the numbers of topwater fish are declining slightly for the mornings are getting cooler and cooler and we noticed a weather change during this past week. I personally had good luck fishing 8 inch watermelon seed lizards in the creek channels in the back of the coves. We also used jigging spoons in the deeper channels and caught many quality fish following the channel from the mouth of the cove to the back of the cove. The rattletrap bite is starting to return, along with the deep diving crank baits. Barring any drastic weather change, I predict we are going to have good fishing the rest of the month and the season. Hope to see y’all at the lodge!

We just experienced the best bass fishing any of us has ever seen. The number of football sized 3-7lb fish we caught on topwater was incredible. We caught 8 fish between 8-9lbs, 4 between 9-10lbs, and 2 over 12lbs, the largest was 12.13. The bigger fish were taken on swimbaits bounced off the bottom in 20-22 feet. Thanks for a great time. We will be back!
