Well, it was bound to happen. The stars were just not lined up. Cold weather, full moon and the rising water along with a high pressure system has made it pretty tough. We did record 7 more 10 pound plus bass to the record book but over all the bite was very slow. Some boats caught up to 100 fish a day but it was mostly the smaller bank runners. I fished hard on THursday and did find fish in 20 ft of water on the flats near the ranch but no real large numbers. Senkos and flukes worked very slow was overall the better bait. Some topwater early but is pretty random. Mike Barton at the Lodge today did catch a 10.7 on pumkin/chartuse lizzard in 22 ft of water near the cross. Will report more on Thursday Terry Hollan

Time Of Day:Jan 24-through 27-07
Simply Awsome!!! Easily caught 50 bass per day. Lake is a little dirtier than usual(so back off the white!)Large Ricos early and late caught some monster bass. Watermelon/ Red flake Senkos and Lizads caught many bass, as well as a few 9’s and 10’s. Lake should be getting better by the day, as water will cintue to warm. Great service. “Julian” and “Pista” were fun and put us on some TOADS! I never did meet up with “JOHNY CHICO ” but I heard he was on the lake in the midnight hours. Also, if anybody can locate a missing Black and Green t-shirt (lost on an island)I would like it back!! Jeff Klicka

Hottest Colors:Watermelon/Redflake
Time Of Day:1/25-1/27
Awesome Trip!! Fishing was a bit slower than usual due to the rapid rise of the water level, but overall still a lot of fish. Nothing over 9, but several in the 7 and 6 range. Started out trying white flukes, but couldn’t get anything to hit. Changed to 7″ Senkos, and it was on. Senkos all day, and topwater in the afternoon seemed to be the ticket. The guides were great, and the service was extremely classy. If you happen to get hooked up with Teo, aka “Pista”, let him know Johnny Chico sent you. He’ll take it from there. Regards, Johnny C.

senkos, flukes

The warmer day on Sunday did improve the fishing. Some boats reporting catching 100 plus yesterday and some boats did not do very well. Bob Welch did land a 10.6 pound bass and Chino’s boat found great numbers of 8 to 9 pound bass near the rock. Slow presentations are working the best with the bank runners not fairing that well. The smaller swimbaits are working better than the bigger ones. Senkos and flukes are producing the best fish
NOT MUCH IMPOROVEMENT

Not much improvement, the big fish are deep. Lavonne Newsome did pull 2 over 10 pounds from the deep water but most of the fish being caught are small males. The water temp is now back to 68 degrees. The weather is showing improvement but still very cool for the region
