Terry, Thanks for having the lodge doors opened up for us last week. My son and I really appreciated it. Like you said. it was raining. I have never seen rain like that before. The local guide that helped us, was Eddie, he said the lake was about %80 full the day we departed to head home. The fishing was fantastic the bite was always the best right before the big rains start in mid afternoon. It seemed that the bigger fish knew the lake was about to be full of nutrients and they would come shallow every day around 2 pm. Fishing strictly with Senkos and 8 inch sluggos we landed at least 2 fish over 11 pounds everyday with the biggest bass of my life ( 14.8 pounds ) on a white/metal flake sluggo in 5 ft of water. The open water islands where stacked full of 3 to 6 pound bass and one day we caught over 160 bass on bigger crankbaits. We fished with plastics for a few hours and never really caught anything on worms. It was the best time of life and my son will always remember it. Thanks again Jerry Montes

WELL THE SEASON IS OVER UNTIL SEPT. MY BUDDY, SCOTT ANDERSON AND I WITH FRIENDS WERE THE LAST TO LEAVE BACCARAC THIS SUMMER. THE FISHING WAS GREAT WITH A 10.8 AND 10.9 CAUGHT, ALSO 2-9’S, 3-8’S, A FEW 5’S, 6’S AND 7’S AND A BUNCH OF DINKS (THOSE ARE THE 2-4 POUNDERS) AMAZING!!! AS ALWAYS WE HAD A GREAT TIME WITH ALL THE FOLKS WHO TREAT YOU RIGHT – RENE, RUSS, SIXTO, TONY AND THE YOUNG LADIES WHO KEEP BRINGING THE MARGARITAS. SCOTT AND I WERE (I THINK) THE SECOND GROUP AT THE LODGE WHEN THEY FIRST OPENED. THE DOORS WERE ON THE ROOMS BY THAT TIME. THIS JUST COMPLETED OUR 9TH OR 10TH TRIP. DO WE LIKE IT? I WOULD SAY SO! WILL I BE BACK – YOU BET! THE BEST FISHING WAS IN THE RANCHO PADRE AREA – THIS TIME. TONS OF FISH IN THE 2-4 POUND RANGE. THE BIG FISH DON’T JUST JUMP IN THE BOAT, YOU HAVE TO FISH FOR THEM, BUT THIS LAKE ALLOWS EVERY CAST MIGHT JUST BE THAT DOUBLE DIGIT. THANKS TERRY AND CHERYL FOR PUTTING TOGETHER A GREAT LODGE SO THIS WEEKENDER CAN DO A LITTLE FISHING. SEE YOU IN THE FALL!! MIKE BARTON

Will Garrison of FNF Construction out of Phoenix, AZ, just returned from the lodge and reports a big fish of 14.2, and numbers that couldn’t be matched. Will is quoted as saying: “Your team did an outstanding job on every aspect of our trip. Rene and staff put out service that rivals any lodge I have ever visited, and we will be booking several trips for next season.” Also yesterday, our super angler Justin Patrick Hill, 12 years old and also from Phoenix, AZ, caught a 10.02, an 11.2, cranking out a big Bill Dance Fat Free Shad. Fishing is great and we hope to see you at the lodge!

While fishing with Lake Baccarac Lodge guide Jorge, Caitlynn Hemm of Glendale, AZ, caught a 12.3 and a 10.12, fishing long rocky points and throwing a Bill Dance crankbait. Jim Hemm fishing the flats at the north end of the lake using brushhogs caught an 11.15. Also in the same group, Bruce Victory of Chandler, AZ, fishing with guide Manuel, caught a 10.7 on a 10-inch black worm in the back of a cove. As you can see from the above report, the fish are all over the lake. The guides report that you could easily catch up to 300 fish per day right now if you just stay with it. The numbers of quality bass, along with the size of the big bass, currently cannot be matched by any lake in Mexico.

We had a good rain ten days ago with lots of recent cloud cover and we have had great action. Many of the three to five pound bass are ten to twelve feet deep, usually on the flats. My favorite bait has been medium crankbaits, shad colored. Long, rocky points with swimbaits and spinnerbaits have been holding tons of fish. The best plastic have been Creature and Brushhog type baits.
