I had a great trip in May of 2010

Please let everyone know there was absolutely no problems getting into or out of Los Mochis or from Los Mochis to the Lodge. The news about the violence is primarily near the border areas. I saw or heard nothing of the sort in Los Mochis or in the vicinity of the Lodge. It’s unfortunate the news is taken at face value. I if people would just do a little research they would discover Mexico is pretty safe in the tourist areas located away from the border particularly the area around the Lodge.

The staff was outstanding as usual. Since I have a cooking/hotel background and we had the time, I enjoyed spending a little time in the kitchen learning some of the dishes. The food was even more outstanding than the two previous years. I have worked with a few chefs throughout the years but I can’t recall any as motivated and proud as the chef at the lodge. He is a true gem!

Fishing was awesome! Again! We didn’t catch a lot of 10lb+ fish but the numbers of 4-8 lbs were staggering for me. I averaged 80 per day so for the week. I pulled in nearly 500 fish. The strength of the Baccarac Bass always amazes me. Even the 3-4 lbrs are mean and pull so hard I think my rod will break. In fact I did have a rod break during a hook-set on a monster of a fish, again this year. The same happened to me last year and I use Xtra-heavy, quality rods.

Today's fly in and fish is the best. Your King Air 200 landing at Bacubirito is the dream trip.  You have all the others beat. BTW, we also caught 3 over 12 pounds during our stay at your lodge.

I can not express how great of a time that we all had on our fishing trip. The fishing, Lodging, Food and Staff is all first class.  Everything was amazing.  I would be more than happy to be a reference to how wonderful everything is there.  Terry is easy to work with and very honest.  I don't think I could find a place to match it.  The last trip we went on, I caught 35- over 7 lbs and at the largest a 10.2 lb.  Also, impressed with the Salazer Family that runs the camps.  Been at your camp 3 times in a year and wishing to make it 4 times this year!  Thanks for a great trip... Look forward to seeing you soon.

Just to signify our most sincere thanks for a great fishing experience. Your hospitality, facilities and personnel were just magnificent. We travel and fish all around the world and never thought that fishing at Lake Baccarac could be what it was. All our expectations came short to what we actually experienced. Your guides were very respectful, experienced, and knowledgeable. The food was delicious and served with lots of charm and good will.

We will surely come back in a larger group. Puerto Rico says "keep the good work, management, fishing practices." We do belief a new bass world record is waiting to be caught at Lake Baccarac and your Big Bass Lodge

Just wanted to say THANK YOU SO MUCH for flying us to Lake Baccarac. You and your staff are really first class. Being a guide and usually taking care of everything for the client I really appreciated the fantastic service and excellent food. The eight of us caught approximately 1200 fish in the three days we were there, even though we had a full moon and windy conditions. We are already looking at dates in October or early November to head back for some more fun.

I would also like to take this opportunity to express how impressed I was with you and your operation.  You are clearly the best fisherman and fishing instructor that I have ever met.  I leaned a great deal from you and indeed you are probably a better teacher than any professor in the American university system.

I hope to travel again to Lake Baccarac Lodge in the not too distant future and I have already talked about trips with other faculty members at universities around the U.S.

My group of 6-fishermen just returned from Lake Baccarac Lodge Feb. 12th 2006. We have been fishinig Mexico for over 15-years and just completed the best trip ever, anywhere. The group's largest fish was a 12.4oz. lunker taken on top water. Each boat averaged better than 50-fish per day in the 3 to 7lb. class. Food, guides & accomodations were A-#1 beyond comparison. Thanx for a great trip.............

Dear Terry,

                 I can truly say if you like to bass fish Lake Baccarrac is everything you could dream of for a world class bass fishery. We just returned from a one week fishing adventure dated January 24 thru January 31 2006. Dean Capra, Brad Leifermann and our cameraman Mike caught literally hundreds of bass, fishing with Sixto our great fishing guide. Fish in the 4lb.to 7lb.class are common place and everyone in our group caught fish in the 10lb. range. With our biggest fish at 12.5lbs. The itinerary that you receive is right on the money as far as great weather, what to bring, accomidations, food, service and the fishing.

   Lake Baccarrac is where you go if you want to catch the biggest bass of your life. We shot over 6 hours of live action video and could catch these fish with any presentation we chose. Our large fish were caught with saltwater size top water Storm Chug Bugs in the morning and afternoon. With a very strong crankbait bite all day long. The new DT 7 flat sided Rapala Blue silver was fantastic using a stop and go retrieve. At one point I caught 17 fish in a row with the crankbait. It was just amazing.

    Again I can’t say enough about this place, we were treated like kings. The lodge is sparkling clean, the Margaritas were tasty and I can’t wait to get back there. If you do decide to go to Lake Baccarrac beware, the fishing is so good you will truly be spoiled for the rest of your life.

Dear Mr. Hollan,
We are grateful and thankful that you have the special person – “Rene” – heading Lake Baccarac Lodge management.

Rene made us feel welcome and comfortable here at Lake Baccarac Lodge, but more than that, he recognized my traveling companion, Morris Turner, as an experienced fisherman with a desire to have a wonderful time fishing for bass at this renowned lake. 

Rene personally took us fishing to a very hot spot for bass in this lake as soon as he recognized Morris had some disappointment in the lake.  At Rene’s selected spot, we immediately caught two fish at the same time – both large and exciting fighters.  This kept up for some time.  Rene’s happy and excited manner caught us up in the fishing frenzy and enjoyment we had looked forward to – in famous Lake Baccarac, Mexico. 

This trip is especially meaningful to Morris because he is the survivor among his fishing buddies – having fished many, many, areas on the North American Continent, from Indiana, Canada, Florida, Texas, etc., in creeks, lakes and the ocean.  Since he was a little boy, Morris’ dad was a fisherman, is age 83 and the only survivor, but senses that they somehow know that Morris is here having a wonderful time.  Thank you for Rene and the good staff he keeps.

Dear Mr. Hollan,

Thank you for having a wonderful chef, Antonio “Tony” Navarro. 

Tony always has a smile for my traveling companion, Morris Turner, and me and makes us feel like royalty. 

The first night we arrived, it was very late, probably 11:00 PM or after, but Tony had fixed a special meal for all of us late arrivals.  The meal was what I call “comfort food.”  It was a half chicken with a potato creamed dish that was perfect.  We felt starved and this meal was completely satisfying and allowed us to have a delightful night’s sleep. 

Every evening Tony came to us and mentioned a couple of meals, invited us to tell him our choice and it was always prepared just right. 

During the meal, Tony would always come to our table and ask how we liked the food.  Tony’s courtesy makes us feel happy to be here, and his variety of menus makes us happy also. 

On behalf of Morris and me, again, Thank You.

Mel Hansen and I had a very good time at Baccarac.  We were impressed with the Lodge, food, guides and the entire package.  I have nothing to add to make it better.  Mel and I caught 404 fish in six days but the big one never showed up.  Mel's largest was 8# and mine was 6#.  We're looking forward to our return visit next year.  Our guide Mario woked very hard for the big fish and was excellent.  Rene saw to it that all of our needs were taken care of. Thanks again for all of your help.  Keep up the great work

"If you live for the thrill of setting the hook into monster bass then Baccarac is where you will find heaven. It's literally the best largemouth bass fishing lake in the world .  Baccarac is a huge lake that offers cove after cove of seemingly infinite shoreline, structure and points which all hold monster fish. I caught so many bass that my thumbs were raw from landing them!!! (be sure to bring aleve for the "hook setting" arthritis. I caugh at least 25 fish equaling and severely surpassing most people's personal records... scores of 5 to 6 pounders, about 5 seven pounders, a few eights and nines.... out llargest fish was 13.2 lbs, with five other fish over 10lbs!!!) 

Don't get me wrong, we worked for them, but what better way to spend four days than manically casting for what could very possibly be the next world record!!!!

"I've fished Bacarrac before with Chapman-Balderama and even though on my best day I had 5 fish go 1 ounce shy of 50 lbs., Bob Mauldin convinced me to try your lodge.

I fished Bacarrac for 6 days (November 17th-22nd). The moon phase was at it's worse and due to heavy rains, the lake rose 9 feet the day I arrived. Alex was my guide and he did a good job of finding numerous (40-60/day) suspended fish up to 9 lbs..

However, Rene wanted Lake Bacarrac Lodge to be the only place I stay when I fish Bacarrac (1-2 times a year) so he took me out on my 5th day. I quickly realized Rene was as good at finding fish as most pros in the states. Inspite of the conditions, Rene found the BIG FISH pattern.

Additionally, Rene did everything humanly possible to make sure EVERYONE was having such a good time that they would definitely return (i.e.-giving tackle out of his own box, making sure everyone was pleased with the food, service and accomodations etc.).

I only caught one fish over 10 lbs. that day but Lake Bacarrac Lodge caught one customer for life! Keep up the good work.
