A great trip. Second best trip ever to Lake Baccarac. March of 2008 ranked as my best out of the 14 trips This last trip was phenomenal, with my 20 biggest fish weighing 184 lbs. This is my first trip to fish in December and my first time to fish for suspended bass. The service was first class and the lake is the best lake in Mexico. Thanks for a great trip. Bass Regards Mickey Bentley

Terry Rader and his group have come and gone and had a fantastic rattletrap bite, and Terry left the lodge stating it was one of the better trips he has had. You had to work hard for the fish but the numbers of big fish are certainly catchable right now - 10.5 being the biggest fish and countless 6 to 9 lb. fish.

12/14/2011

The trip this year was our best so far for big fish. Our group of 16 had 5 fish over 10, with a 10.92 being the largest. You had to work hard for the fish, but the average size was incredible. We quit counting the 7-9 pound fish. Hot baits were white magnum flukes, white spinnerbaits, and watermelon lizards and senkos. It is amazing fishing, when you fight a fish to the boat and say "darn it, another 7-pounder"! Thanks again for another great trip. Judd Mcpherson

12/07/2011

big group arriving today at Bacubirito Airport leading into the full moon we should have some of the big fish show up...the weather is cooler and the water temp is now below 70..yesterday we had some great reports from the lodge with fish in the 8 to 11 pound range showing up.....still not much topwater but more topwater than last week....magic bait is the watermelon red senko and the white fluke

12/04/2011

Just got back in from the lodge. Cooler weather has set in and we had a couple of days of nice rainfall. The water temperature has dropped about ten degrees. It has affected the fishing, but only for a couple of days.

Since December 1st, we have had Gale Vaught at the lodge and he absolutely had a fantastic trip, catching countless four to seven lb. bass and a nine lb. bass reported, along with three over 10 lbs. Gale stated, you have to work hard for the catches, but for what I caught, it was worth the hard work!

Larry Beard and his son, Matt, also have been at the lodge for the last few days and they reported catching nine fish over 9 lbs., fifteen over 8 lbs., twenty over 7 lbs. Larry has been to our lodge many times, and he says this was his third-best trip. He predicts that the spring season is going to be fantastic. Also reported that you had to work had for what you caught, but the average size was incredible.

The Steve Charbonneau group had a couple of slow days until today, and it was just reported that Steve and his partner caught three over 10 lbs. at today’s morning session while fishing islands with steep drop-offs. One oz. spinner baits are working very well, along with senkos and we have caught fish from 45 feet deep to five feet deep.

Two seats open out of el paso on Dec 13th

11/28/2011 from the Lodge......Big Bass! The big bass have showed back up with fish up to 13 pounds caught on swimbaits and spinnerbaits..some pretty good topwater action as the water cools..... It should be excellent fishing from now until the next big weather change....dont miss out

11/26/2011

very very good numbers of 2 to 8 pound basscaught on the points using senkos, spinnerbiats ( on the bottom ) zara spooks and yellow magic....we are getting a little rain and some cooler temps

11/25/2011

cooler temps creating lots of good topwater action for the 3 to 9 pound bass. yellow magic and the ricos working , as well as the zara spook in baby bass color. Senkos( watermelon red ) and flukes ( pearl )We have had lots of nice cloud cover the last 3 days

11/22/2011

Terry Rader rated it the best week he has every had on Baccarac on any other lake in Mexico. Tim Pollard rated it just an average week on Baccarac...Overall the fishing has remained about the same as the week before with plenty of mid size fish and everyday one or two 10 pounds caught

11/13/2011

From Hal Clifford: This was the best week ever for me! the group 125 fish over 7 pounds with 55 over 7, 38 over 8, 20 over 9, 8 over 10, 2 over 11 and 2 over 12..also Marty Cooper fishing the same time period had excellent topwater action

Two open seats on Nov 7th out of El Paso

11/07/2011

Today's fishing was varied, with overall numbers very low, but the Greg Riggle group reported bigger fish found in 20 foot of water using big pearl swim baits, along with pearl chartreuse swim baits, 10 inch magnum Berkley worms in dark colors, 6 inch worms in watermelon, using chatter bait jigs.
No fish over 10 reported today.

We do have a feeling things will change. The full moon is coming; the big fish will show up, but Mr. Big Fish Hunter himself, with his new signature series of baits will be at the lodge next week - Gil Wright. We will not have another report until a week from Monday, but if you do need a real time report, please call your direct fishing hotline - 806-679-4433.

November 27th - two seats available out of El Paso, flying directly to the lodge.

11/4/2011

The last three or four days, the big fish have turned off and are not biting. The graphs show them suspended off the points. There are plenty of fish to catch, however, up on the banks using white super flukes, magnum lizards, big senkos, 1/2 oz. spinner baits and medium running crank baits.
The big fish yesterday was 7.8, with boats catching anywhere from 50 to 90 fish a day.

11/1/2011

..... the fishing has gone from great numbers caught to low numbers and huge fish only to now a little slower over all....Brad Perry returned with his 5 biggest fish weighing 63 pounds ( on Oct 28th ) ..NUmbers per day ranged from 15 in one day for one boat to 73 for another boat. Senkos and flukes worked best for last three days and spinnerbiats bite did not work at all. Bigger crankbaits worked very well on the points...

It seems that the fish are starting to suspend.....

Fishing has slowed from the last report, with our clients catching from 30 - 60 per boat in the 8 lb. range. Senkos and swim baits work the best for the recent group. We did have a beautiful 13.3 caught which will be posted on the website very soon, caught on a spinner bait. Spinner baits also produced many of the bigger fish for Narlin and his small group from Sinaloa de Leyva. Lake Baccarac is still at 35% and the next group will be arriving shortly.

08/29/2011  water level is coming up and the big bass have move up shallowin the back of the coves...big rattling zara spooks have produced the biggest bass with many 7 to 11 pound bass caught....we still need more water in the lake- but it will come......

Sorry for the length of time between reports! The last couple of months have just flown by. Over the last six weeks, we have had a hodgepodge of fishermen at the lake. As you know, we try to stay closed this time of the year because of the rains but have always tried to allow the local bass clubs to test the waters. As always, this time of year produces excellent action for the bigger fish. The days are longer and we are typically getting rain every afternoon. This year, we aren't getting nearly the rain we need and the only negative would be is the lake is a little low for this time of the year and we need more rain or a couple of big hurricanes, which I am sure we will get. The lake has started to get muddy at the north end from the runoff but I don't think it will have a long-lasting effect. The local Federation and co-ops have taken pride in preserving this as the best trophy lake in the world and want to extend to all of us a huge welcome and invitation to come fish the lake.

The boys from Pollard Aircraft arrived and Mike Swartz took the first day honors - his boat landed an 11 plus lb. bass. The second day out, Tim Pollard found their honey hole and in one stretch, caught 22 bass on 23 casts between 7 and 9 lbs. along with a 10 lb. kicker. On the third day of fishing, Mike rallied from behind and caught a beautiful 11 plus lb. bass, countless numbers of other quality fish. The lake is currently around 30% capacity and we are starting to get evening rains and the big fish have shown back up at Baccarac.

06/16/2011

Tad Phelps, in three days of fishing, caught 117 fish over 7 lbs. and two fish over 12 lbs. He threw nothing but deep diving DB 22 crank baits and only rested every once in a while and threw a plastic.

06/10/2011

WoW, the afternoon cloud cover is producing excellent results for the Japenese anglers currently at the Lodge. 11.11 caught on topwater and countless 7 to 9 bass caught on big crankbaits. ...It is very good right now!!!!

06/08/2011

We have started getting a few evening rains. The fishing in June is even more outstanding than fishing in May. Lake Baccarac is currently at 30% capacity. The fishing are concentrated in creek channels and the long points. I personally caught my best fish of the year, a 12.1, last week using a DD 22, fishing light line to get the few extra feet of depth. Our current group at the lodge from Japan is reporting 40 to 60 fish per session per boat and are amazed at the number of 4 to 9 1/2 lb. bass. Don't miss out on this great fishing. Come see us! We do have seats available on a couple of planes if that interests you.

05/10/2011 to 05/15/2011

Fishing continues to be outstanding.

Gil Wright and Mike Watson's group arriving in Mike Seikel's airplane, had a record-breaking trip. Gil Wright, at one point, caught 22 over seven lbs.
in one hour, with fish up to 9.6 lbs. Gil commented that this was the best action he had ever seen on the lake. Mike Watson and his fishing partner caught 545 fish in their four days of fishing, with a 10.6 and a 10.5 being the two largest and 77 over 8 lbs. Nineteen of those fish were over 9 lbs. But what tells the story is that on Friday, May 12th, their 10 biggest fish weighed 96 lbs. Mike Seikel and his group caught fish up to 11 lbs. and reported by far the best fishing trip they have had to Baccarac or any other lake, for that matter.

05/08/2011

Leo Osborne and Orlean Smith just returned to Oklahoma City today after having great results at Lake Baccarac. Their totals for the trip are as
follows: two fish over 11; ten fish over 9; sixteen fish over 8; twenty fish over 7; sixty-five fish over 6, 130 fish over 4; and 165 fish over 3 lbs. The best action was had using DB22 crank baits fishing light line.
The fishing is nothing short of phenomenal and we have planes flying the rest of this month and can book more planes if needed, or you are always welcome to come in commercial air. On certain dates, we have $995 specials with groups of four or more.

April 2011

The first part of April started off with a bang and it has improved every day. Not only the swim bait bite, but the top water bite as well. Just received an e-mail from Marty Cooper who caught over 300 fish, 140 on topwater, a 10.5, a 9.3. and a 9.1, twenty-five over 8 lbs. and forty over 6 lbs. He ended his report by saying that in the last eleven years he has
fishing all of the Mexican lakes and none compare to Lake Baccarac.

James Meeks, who just fishing two weeks ago at Lake Baccarac, flew back to Chicago, gathered up a group and headed back to the lake yesterday. He has been fishing Mexican lakes for years and claims none compare to Lake Baccarac.

We had a lodge full of Japanese customers, which the majority only fished top water. All reported it was the best fishing experience they have ever had and got photos and videos to prove it.

April started off with a bang. Bob Schriewer and Jerry Ballard, veteran Mexico bass anglers, just returned, marking this trip as their best trip yet to Mexico. Baccarac is right where we thought it would be for this time of year - excellent shape. The big fish for Bob was 11.15, along with a couple of additional fish over 10 lbs. caught. The overall quality, according to Jerry Ballard, was the best he has ever seen at any lake in Mexico.
Topwater bite, one session, produced multiple 9 lb. bass using Spittin Image. The swim bait bite, in 14 to 22 feet of water, was as good as it was the week before. Seems like the bite is best on the long points and submerged islands.

The fishing has turned a little tough yesterday morning but the afternoon bite improved with a good swim bait bite SHane Ryal did manage up to 80 fish for the day with 9.12 being the biggest...The best pattern fishing wacky senkos on the sharp drop offs .. A couple of boats reporting as little as 35 fish for the day. Gil Levis landed a 9.6 and 9.4 on topwater the first two casts of the day

03/15/2011.\

With the lodge currently being full, we are getting varied results from the different boats. Many noteworthy reports: Kelly Dunn caught a 9.10 and a 9.14 on top water. Roger Hatch caught a 10.15 on a wacky style Senko and a 9.14 on a 3 1/2 inch Pop'R. Top water overall has been excellent in the mornings. The Earl Meadows group recently fished 3 1/2 days with their big fish only being a 9.12 but had outstanding numbers of 5 to 8 lb. bass. At times, fishing could not have been better. A note, the lake is dropping fast and as the last several years' reports have indicated, the last week in March is going to be an explosion of giant bass. As many of you know, May has always been an outstanding month and we look for this May to be even better than normal. We have secured airplanes for travel and we have open seats on others. 02/24/2011

The Lodge is full and all boats but a couple of boats reporting good to excellent results with Nic Richey boating 1 over 10 the first 1/2 on the water// topwater late with smaller poprs producing good numbers

02/23/2011

For some, the fishing has been incredible and for some, it's been a little slow. Jimmy Manley just finished his trip and had a great trip with four fish over 10 lbs. caught between him and Randy Warner. The first half day, he caught a ten plus and a 9.13 on consecutive casts. Since coming to Lake Baccarac Lodge, Jimmy has logged somewhere in the neighborhood of fifty fish over ten. Larry Beard, returning, reported a 12.4 and a very good bit.
After fishing Lake El Salto for the last couple of years, Larry reported that he's happy to be back at the best lake in Mexico. Wayne Null, a first-timer to Lake Baccarac, didn't break the ten pound mark but caught several fish near ten pounds and he said that Lake Baccarac Lodge was the best lodge accommodations he has ever been to and Lake Baccarac the best lake ever. Tim Wallen caught a 10.7 and a 12.2 on top water; after several trips, this was his first time to break the ten pound mark. Gil Wright didn't break ten pounds this trip but had an incredible amount of seven to nine pound fish caught on top water. The Rodney Rice group from St. Louis struggled a bit, but they all reported nice sized fish on at least one session during their trip. The fishing is very good but the bite is very weak. The fish are trying to suspend. The best pattern the past week has been Super Flukes and Wacky Style Senkos with a slow presentation.

02/17/2011

The fish seem to be suspending the lake level is dropping

tim wallen caught  10.7 on topwater

gil wrights landed 30 on topwater this morning

Hal Clifford had a great super fluke bite this moning

Tom Spanel reported slower fishing this morning vs yesterday

02/15/2011

Excellent fishing for Some at the Lodge

Bob Schriwer caught 1 over 11, 1 over10 and 2 over 9 and 2 over 8

Hal Clifford caught 9.3 and 9.2 on topwater

Gale Vaught landed a 12.2

02/10/2011

Russ reporting excellent action with the Senkos bite and 9.13 lber caught on topwater... Good numbers of 3 to 7 lbers caught by all boats

02/09/2011

Morning report :

The big fish are starting to show up with Russ Johnson catching one fish over 10 on a watermelon, Texas rigged Senko and Brian Harold catching one over 11 on a wacky style Senko in twenty feet of water. The Scott Sinclair group is having excellent top water action using Bill Quattrucci's Mutant Mouse. We might all want to have one of these in our tackle box before long! All in all, fishing is rated good to excellent for the last day.

02/08/2011

The freezing weather we experienced last week, as a side note, destroyed almost 100,000 acres of crops in the area. It might have been the best thing, however, that could have happened on Lake Baccarac. The water temperature dropped almost eight degrees and did shut the fishing off for a day or two, but the top water bite has returned and we are experiencing phenomenal numbers of fish up to seven and eight pounds. Steve Gilcrease reported a couple of twelve plus pounders on top water as well. I do think the big fish will be hard to find until the water warms back up, but I think this exciting action will continue. In the past, Baccarac bass have always liked Zara Spooks, anything with more of a stealthy presentation but Pop'Rs and Buzz Baits are definitely the top water bait of choice this week. There is a chance that the lakes in Sinaloa will be drawn down rapidly as the
farmers try to replant after this recent destruction. Only time will tell
what their plan will be. Baccarac is alive and well and we hope to see you at the lodge soon!

02/07/2011

Excellent action of 4 to 8 pound bass. Randy Bolton reporting best overall trip ever to any Mexican bass fishing lakeand Lodge/////topwater is very very good right now

02/06/2011

The water temp has dropped over 8 degrees since the cold blast lake week. The bigger fish have disappeared but the action on top has been excellent the last couple of days..The best bite on plastic has been motoroil colored brush hogs and topwater bite has really turned back on for fish up to 8 pounds

02/04/2011 after the cold front the numbers have come back with fish up to 7 pounds caught. The size have disappeared according to Narlin at the Lodge..Overall great numbers of fish for all boats. No fish over 8 reported the last 4 days

02/03/2011

Freezing weather the last 3 days at the Lake.....fishing and catching very slow with near freezing weather shocking the fish //Numbers have fallen from 75 to 100 a day to 10 to 20 small ones a day

Fishing ranged from good to very good depending on the day of the week. Up to 100 bass a day for some boats with fish to 8 pounds being caught. Kenneth Poole landed several over 9 and 1 over 10 fishing brushhogs in deeper water

1/26/2011

Better numbers with Byran Baca catching 120 fish for the day with 41 of them between 5 and 6 pounds. Byran fished mostly shallow hoping to find a bigger spawning female. Russ Landers boat catching 36 fish for the day fishing deeper all day long with big fish for the day being a 8.3 pounder. Narlin Salazar while fishing with Russ Johnson landed a 11.2 fishing in Wasama using a wacky style black/blue senko in deeper water

1/23/2011

Sorry there haven't been any reports for a few days. The fishing at Baccarac is very strong but as firsthand knowledge tells me, the fish being caught are much bigger three or four days before the full moon. With top water fishing starting three or days before the full moon, excellent in the afternoon session. But Sixto showed us how to catch the big ones with four over 10 lbs. caught in a two-day period leading up to the full moon. The day after the full moon, not only did the number slow, but the size decreased. German and his boat had the same results, catching the big fish on wacky style senkos, Carolina rigged. Vic Henry reported catching 70 to 80 fish a day before the full moon and his numbers dropped to half of that three days after the full moon. In the last nine days, eleven fish over 10 lbs. were caught.

Sorry no reports in a couple of days! We have been out on the water. Gil Wright and Denis Bootenhoff spent the New Year at the lodge, after arriving on 12-30-10. With New Year's Eve's fishing being relatively slow, New Year's Day for Gil Wright produced excellent top water fishing, with four fish over eight, two of those them being over nine. Very good numbers for the day with basically top water only being fished. . The deep water action on January 2nd did not produce any size but was producing incredible numbers. Denis Bootenhoff reported seeing a big fish roll up on a top water lure that was the biggest fish he has ever seen from the lake and Denis has seen plenty of big fish. On a side note, Gil took back from Denis the big fish prize which Denis has held for the last two trips.
